Bharatanatyam

Bharatanatyam is the oldest form of Indian classical dance, with roots in ancient temples in Tamil Nadu, India. Its name comes from the four parts of dance in Sanskrit-"bha", "ra", "ta", and "Natya".

Arangetram

Arangetram is an Indian classical dance and music student's debut performance in front of an audience at a prestigious venue. This is the first performance after years of training and paves the way for a dancer to perform solo or teach other dancers.

The Guru

In short, a Guru is a celebrated person with divine attributes who enlightens their disciples. A guru is a wise mentor who offers his or her knowledge. In the dancing form, this tradition is based on a single fundamental ideology: the guru is the epitome of discipline.

The Shishyas

Shishya refers to a dedicated follower; if you are somebody's Shishya, you are inspired by your Guru's lessons and want to emulate them. The Guru-Shishya tradition is based on one basic principle: the guru is the ultimate word on dance for a Shishya.
