About Shreya

Shreya has been intensely involved in debate and is a recipient of the State award for public speaking while in 8th grade. She says that the confidence that comes from being able to speak in public has fueled the courage to dance and present this art form in front of an audience. Shreya has been a part of her school mock trial team since freshman year and has many academic accomplishments to her credit, one of the most notable being the scholastic award that she won in 8th grade for an article on climate change. She has a flair for writing and telling stories, and has been published in multiple books for the American Library of Poetry from 5th to 9th grade.

Dancing needs strength and endurance, and since Shreya already had a black belt in Taekwondo by age 10, she came in with an immense amount of potential. Shreya played the piano during elementary and middle school, also the viola since 4th grade which she still plays for her school orchestra, and has received certificates of achievement for her continued training from the American Strings Teachers Association. The rhythm and musicality that comes with playing an instrument, is “instrumental” for the movement in dance as well.
